U.S. agricultural policy addresses many important challenges, including maintaining a safe and secure food supply, fighting hunger domestically and internationally, and providing economic stability for farm families. This lecture will cover key policies that addressed these challenges during the Eisenhower Era. Historical context and intended and unintended economic impacts will be discussed. The lecture will conclude with a summary of how these challenges persist today and important lessons from the Eisenhower Era.
